Abstract

Response time is an important indicator of service quality in Emergency Department (ED) services and plays a key role in shaping patient family satisfaction. Timely emergency care is expected to improve families' perceptions of healthcare services. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between service response time and patient family satisfaction in the Emergency Department of Syekh Yusuf Regional General Hospital, Gowa. Methods: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 50 patient family members selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results: Of the respondents, 30 (60.0%) perceived the response time as fast, while 20 (40.0%) perceived it as slow. Family satisfaction showed that 22 respondents (44.0%) were satisfied and 28 (56.0%) were dissatisfied. Chi-square analysis demonstrated a significant relationship between service response time and family satisfaction (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Service response time was significantly associated with patient family satisfaction. Improving emergency department services requires optimizing response time, strengthening effective communication, enhancing healthcare professionalism, and continuously evaluating service performance.
