Abstract

This study analyzes the julo-julo system as a collective economic practice that develops among traders of the Sangkumpal Bonang Conventional Market and assesses its potential as a strategy to strengthen and resilient the traders' economy. This study is motivated by the economic vulnerability of conventional market traders who face limited access to formal financial institutions, market fluctuations, and structural economic pressures. This condition encourages the emergence of julo-julo as a financing mechanism based on social solidarity embedded in the relationship between traders.  The findings of the julo-julo diet are carried out through a routine deposit mechanism, rotational distribution of funds, and supervision based on social control which is strengthened by trust, flexibility of rules, and the role of quoters in maintaining group stability.  These findings expand the theoretical framework on community finance in the informal economy and affirm the capacity of local practices as the foundation of community-based microeconomic resilience.
