Abstract

Organic solar cell have become a major concern in overcoming the world's energy crisis. The presence of chromophores is a key component in many photochemical processes in solar cells. This study aims to examine the potential of bioactive compounds in mangsian as raw materials for the development of organic solar cells in terms of their chromophores. Based on the results of the UV-Vis spectrum, mangsian fruit has a band gap of 1.95 eV, which indicates that the dye in mangsian has the potential to convert energy from sunlight. The LC-MS results show that mangsian fruit contains 121 bioactive compounds. The compounds identified from mangsian were then computationally characterized with the help of ORCA software to determine the HOMO and LUMO energies of each compound contained. From the computational results of all these compounds, 95 compounds in mangsian are included in the chromophore. This indicates that most compounds in mangsian have the potential to become new chromophores in the development of solar cells.
